Druidston, Pembrokeshire

DRUIDOLOGY

Limited Edition Print *

Druidston, St Bride's Bay, Pembrokeshire, Wales

A twenty second exposure of the Pembrokeshire coastline, looking at Druidston Chins and on toward Newgale, all part of St Bride's Bay.

Druidston is well known for its geology (hence the image title, Druidology). The cliffs are comprised of dark grey - black Ordovician shales which display a Caledonian anticline-syncline fold pair which has subsequently been re-folded by the Variscan orogeny. Being subjected to two orogenic episodes (re-foldings) is unusual, resulting in a 'folded-fold' structure.
